COVID-42
Rebellion in the USSA
Freed from the mandated microchips’ mind control by the rebels’ hack in 2042, Jackson finds himself threatened to be deemed a "domestic terrorist" by the government if he decides to avoid getting a new neural implant to replace the disabled one. He has had enough tyranny, especially after having felt forced to move across the country to escape outrageous totalitarian policies, including the chip -which seemed to distract, manipulate, and even endanger him. Jackson, and others like him, have come to a critical crossroad; they must now choose to bend the knee to the U.S.S.A.’s corrupt leaders and get re-chipped or join the rebellion and rally for freedom.
Covid-42 is a searing criticism of globalist totalitarianism, embedded in a dramatic storyline that includes surfing (without surfer jargon), sharks, love, hunting, the results of medical tyranny, slavery, spiritual philosophy, and digressions that explain real-life subjects like North Shore surfing and sugar plantation slavery. Its target audience is college-level readers and adults of all ages who are conservative but not nerdy, and my goal is to raise awareness for the globalist, technocratic, totalitarian takeover that is currently engulfing our planet, doing so without boring readers by being overly pedantic in nature.
We see it sitting next to 1984 on bookshelves, with the vision of it offering a hopeful ending rather than simply a potent warning to never let it happen. Matt Bender, is heavily inspired by Orwell, as well as Steinbeck, J.D. Salinger, Michael Chrichton, Allan C Weisbecker, CS Lewis, The Bible, George Lucas, Gary Paulsen, Lowis Lowry, Mike Judge, and many others.
